The truth about Roe vs. Wade!
65
Who was Roe?
Most do not realize that it really was not someone named "Roe" who started the suit. It was Norma Mccorvey who later became an activist for the right to life movement!
The case was instigated by two female attorneys ( Sarah Weddington and Linda Coffee ), in the state of Texas. They alleged that a rape had occured and Norma had gotten pregnant as a result and wanted to have an abortion. In truth, no rape happened, and too, she had the baby, a girl whom she put up for adoption. Weddington and Coffee still concocted a case in Texas that made headlines.
Since then, Mccorvey has gone on to being like I said, a strong advocate for life. She was even very recently at the hearings for confirmation of judge Sonya Sotomayor. She was arrested after she and another protester started yelling during the opening statement of Senator, Al Frankin. link here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/14/norma-mccorvey-jane-roe-a_n_231230.html
People who argue Roe vs. Wade have some trouble here don't they? You cannot argue the facts. And I believe that the case should have been thrown out from the very beginning. I think it would have been had it not been for a lack of thrurough investigation into the claims of McCorvey.
I cannot even imagine how she must suffer now over all of this. But I think she is making amends quite nicely in being so outspoken and coming out with the truth regarding her stake in the case.
the supreme court over stepped their bounds I think in allowing such a barbaric practice to infest our country. And I for one am more than outraged over the fact that I and other taxpayers who are in strong opposition of abortion are forced to pay for them! How ridiculous is that?!
Yep our mighty tax dollars at work, killing babies. nice.
In her book, Won by Love, McCorvey wrote:
I was sitting in O.R.'s offices when I noticed a fetal development poster. The progression was so obvious, the eyes were so sweet. It hurt my heart, just looking at them. I ran outside and finally, it dawned on me. 'Norma,' I said to myself, 'They're right.' I had worked with pregnant women for years. I had been through three pregnancies and deliveries myself. I should have known. Yet something in that poster made me lose my breath. I kept seeing the picture of that tiny, 10-week-old embryo, and I said to myself, that's a baby! It's as if blinders just fell off my eyes and I suddenly understood the truth--that's a baby!
I felt crushed under the truth of this realization. I had to face up to the awful reality. Abortion wasn't about 'products of conception.' It wasn't about 'missed periods.' It was about children being killed in their mother's wombs. All those years I was wrong. Signing that affidavit, I was wrong. Working in an abortion clinic, I was wrong. No more of this first trimester, second trimester, third trimester stuff. Abortion–at any point–was wrong. It was so clear. Painfully clear.

thanks for doing this hub, it was awesome of you to do this, I've learned a lot
Great hub that emphasizes the principle that the cases that come before American judges have to be real controversies; they can't be hypothetical or otherwise contrived. That makes Roe v. Wade founded on faulty premises from the beginning. Also, much has been recently said about Justice Blackmun's historical context for Roe. Francis Beckwith has brought this out nicely in his book Defending Life. Thanks for drawing attention to this "life and death" topic.
I actually thought there was a person named Roe. I did not know anything about this woman until now. Media manipulation is extremely dangerous. I learned a long time ago to seek the truth for myself and not settle for hand-me-down statements.
Wow! I learned something today. Thanks for the hub!
Very informative! Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks for this Hub. I always thought she was behind the suit.
*shock* Liberal lawyers a lieing (which day of Christmas was that again?) to get their policies through ... next you will tell me politians are honest-yet another lie put forth by the media
I hope this hub causes a lot of people to make the right decision in the future--of course, that's life!
Am so much pleased for this awesome hub you actually shared in here.
